Michalis Michael was a Lab Assistant who started in 2009. He remained with us until the end of his studies. Michalis is a great example of an Alumnus who has a great spirit, and his heart was always in the right place. He truly has a “knack” for communicating, and was always willing to learn and help. Mediazone was proud to assist in giving Michalis the edge by providing him with a “glowing” letter of recommendation and to act as the reference for his current employment at Breda University. Michalis never fails to visit us every time he is in town. We always say that the relationships we build with our students are for life, and coming back to Unic, Mediazone is like coming home. Mediazone supports the “Magirevo Kipriaka” event on April the 13th & 14th. Mediazone staff, lab assistants and volunteers will be on hand to cover this fantastic event, which not only promotes Cypriot cuisine, but Cyprus itself.

On March 20th 2013, students of the University Of Nicosia
took part in a fun production of a UNic Harlem Shake video at the open amphitheater. It wasn’t something you get to see every day and we definitely stole the interest of other students. Some watched and others participated, it’s positive that we broke the way of the daily routine. Special thanks to MediaZone, Stefan Colton (opening performer) and everyone who was a part of this Harlem Shake! Hopefully students in the future will also be encouraged to take similar initiative. Encourage Creativity !

I have recently been assigned a project which required subtitles, trans-coding and then embedding to a video file. The video file given to me had already subtitles (hard copied) in another language and the only way to hide them (as much possible) and display other subtitles was to use the opaque box. The opaque box is the black box that surrounds the subtitles. In web design/CSS programming imagine that is a <div> with black background and a padding option. Continue reading

Once again this year the University of Nicosia, Mediazone is producing Famelab 2013, which is a national talent competition to find the best new talent in science communication. The “live to tape” event takes place today – at 4:30pm sharp in Cinestudio!
