Quite recently the term Smart TV has been coined to mean a variety of things. Although Samsung may be using the phrase, it has moved beyond its products and first & foremost, it definitely means connectivity. It means that you can you can surf the internet using a prebuilt application or even speak to your TV and it will perform certain command functions. You can watch TV through the internet through Netflix or Hulu and sometimes do much more. Many operating systems are used in this endeavor to expand the entertainment experience. The Cyprus Community Media Centre (CCMC) is providing a valuable opportunity for civil society to learn the basics in video production and editing with this six-week course (leaflet here). In cooperation with trainers from Ze’dem Media, the course will equip you with a solid foundation in the process of making documentary-style videos and the technical aspects of camera operation, sound, lighting and editing.

Simple tips on how to steady your camera… without a Steadicam!

Nowadays the differences between amateur and professional camera work can seem a bit “blurry”, pardon the pun! As audiences members we seem to be more accepting of many of the errors that years ago would be considered totally amateur. Yet there is one factor, that of the “steady shot” that makes the difference between say –  “Marcos making a home movie of his kids” and something more specific watchable and professional. It is one of the golden rules of shooting for the big screen. Keep it steady, or else, everybody gets seasick! So this applies to any anyone – shooting video at any time! We work hard to provide useful information get you relevant information about what is happening in the University of Nicosia and with the practical courses in the Communications Department and much more. The perfect reason to get together…

A night to catch up with old friends and classmates. Student alumni members flocked to the University of Nicosia, each with their own expectations and desires to once again connect to those that were all part of their student life. It was a great evening with terrific ambience and energy, but I won’t go into too many details as you will have to see and hear for yourself.
