Finding places to watch films that are not just Hollywood marketing formulas in Cyprus is not the easiest task, but there is hope…Mediazone encourages everyone especially all students to head out and watch films featured in this year’s Cyprus Film Days. It’s a once a year opportunity to explore films in a whole different way – and its free! (For students with a student card).

The tenth, anniversary edition of Cyprus Film Days will take place between the 20th and 29th of April 2012 in Limassol at the Rialto Theatre, and in Nicosia at the Zena Palace Cinema.
The festival is co-organized by the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Rialto Theatre.
The Festival’s screenings programme includes this year’s big Oscar winner The Artist, by Michel Hazanavicius and other critically acclaimed titles like Shame and We need to talk about Kevin. This year’s “Glocal Images” competition section invites you to discover new talent through powerful storytelling. Moreover, the festival features exciting thematic screenings inspired by The Artist and by the growing trend of comic book screen adaptations. “Cinema Speaks” presents key films from the late 1920s, which experimented with sound or refused to adapt to sound, and “Comic Art in Motion” presents films that demonstrate creative explorations of the process of adapting comic art for the big screen.
