Fall 2013, lessons started on the 30th of October.
I was very excited about my new start since it is my 2nd year! The courses that I have selected this semester are Video Production and Multimedia which are practical courses, Newswriting , Film and Public Relations Methods which are theoretical courses. Lets not forget Mediazone Lab Assistant Training!
The first 2 weeks, professors gave us an introduction about the subjects, showed us the themes, the equipment and actually what is going to follow this semester. At the end of October we had our first midterm. The material that the teacher examined us on was based on understanding the first steps of the introduction, which was easy. At the same time, we had to submit 2 essays in one week (2 different lessons).
Let’s go to the hard part of the story! The last 2 weeks of October, we had to learn and remember way too much information for every subject (know the equipment, exercises in the class, read the presentations). Finally, November seems to be the most tiring month, due to the fact that we have to submit 4 essays, and prepare a project! Additionally, we have another 2 exercises, which have to be made in groups. To summarize, I have to finish 6 exercises, by the end of November!
Let’s not talk about December, as that is another anxiety-filled month since instructors will be in a hurry to finish the material and start revision.
I believe that being proactive and creating a time management program to be on time for our responsibilities is important, and this requirement is an advantage for those first stressful months. We learn how to be a part of a team and how to share the work so that everybody’s doing a fair job! The only disadvantage is the stress in order to give the best you can and the weariness that comes with it. However, studying and being responsible are our duties, so we don’t have any excuses!!
Have an enjoyable and productive semester!!
