My Fall Semester 2012 – A success story!

Posted On October 26, 2012 By admin In Studio Assistants Blog /

The fall semester finally started a few weeks ago. You may wonder why this semester is so different than all the others and why I am writing about it.

Well for me the whole year is going to be different. Usually here at Unic you are allowed to have 5 courses per semester unless you are in your final year, then you can have 6, and according to everyone with that amount of work it is very hard, especially in the Law Department. Apart from that you need  quite a high GPA in order to be entitled to have an extra course.

Well I am actually doing 7 courses this semester and I will have 7 the next semester as well. It is 21 hours worth of courses per week, (actual class time). The studying I am doing is a lot since I want to have a high GPA in order to begin a Masters Degree. I also work part time at Mediazone here in the University as an Administrative assistant.

Having so many classes and working 5 days a week, even if it’s part time, is still exhausting. I tried very hard to get all of these courses because I wanted to graduate. First I spoke to my advisor who told me that it’s hard, but not impossible. After a couple of weeks my request was denied. I tried again and explained to everyone involved my situation, and finally I went to the Head of Admissions told them that I really need to graduate this summer in order to start my practice in a law firm and then acquire my Masters. I am a special case.

Of course I know  it will be difficult but if I set my goals and organize  myself properly, nothing is impossible. Many would say “Come on, it’s nice to be a student. You don’t have many responsibilities, others take care of you.” For me this doesn’t apply. Studying is not a way to have fun spending your parents’ money, (ok you are allowed to do that too but not overdo it!).

Studying is a way for you to make your dreams come true on your own terms; finally be free to do what you like depending only on yourself and no one else. This is my opinion of what being successful really means.
