It’s been quite a while since the last time I wrote something for the blog here at Mediazone. Many things happened after I finished my education and work at the University of Nicosia and Mediazone, and I would like to share my experiences so far with you.
Right after I got my degree in Applied Multimedia I decided to go back to my home country – Bulgaria (even though Cyprus is my second home, because of my family roots).
The first reason was that I wanted to try and grow as a professional there, the second, to do my Master’s degree at the University of Sheffield, which was possible to be done in Bulgaria because the institution has a branch there. The degree that I chose was in Technology Management, which in other words is the managerial aspect of my Bachelor’s degree.
After going back I quickly landed a full time job as a 3D/Graphics designer for Visteon Corporation. The company makes all the graphical elements, animations and interaction for cars for such automotive powerhouses like Mercedes, Porsche, General Motors, Mazda etc. This was not going to be possible without my experience from Mediazone, as well as the projects I had under my belt and the recommendation letter from the Head of Mediazone.
And so it began- working and studying once again. I didn’t really want to leave the visual effects and the film industry aside even for a moment. Because of that reason I started cooperating with Bulgarian and Irish production companies working in my free time (when there is free time) as a visual effects and motion graphics artist.
There are lots of opportunities out there, but to be honest, without the experience and support from Mediazone I wouldn’t have the idea where to look for them. I can proudly say that Mediazone and the whole team there taught me lots of lessons over the years, opened my eyes for the film and design industries and most importantly – they showed me how to be a better person and a better professional.
