It’s not just about putting on a microphone!
Sometimes it’s difficult working with people you may not know, communicating with them, or relating to them, let alone trying to place a microphone on them. There are all sorts of awkward moments attached to asking someone to trust you while you make adjustments to their clothing while adding a microphone. How you approach someone, what you say are very important factors in the process.
When micing children ensure there is a guardian present to assist you. If you are dealing with elderly, a caregiver or health practitioner may need to be present depending on the situation.
It is an art form, and like everything else in the industry it takes practice. It all sounds great in theory, but the practical side means doing it for yourself, seeing what your strengths and weaknesses are; so you can do it again, just better.
