Hi there!
My name is Elina, and this is my final blog as a Mediazone Studio Assistant. Very soon, I will be an honored graduate and will step into a new chapter in life, leaving the place that I love with all my heart as one of the best memories of my student years. If I had the opportunity and endless resources, I would tell you all about my Mediazone experience, and it could take days for you to read, but don’t worry — I will not keep you for that long. The story I would like to share with you is simply about a moment of being appreciated and how everything you do is important.
It was the second biggest event I was responsible for — the Anti-Cancer Society Fiesta at the Electricity Authority of Cyprus. It was a huge charity event that took place right before Christmas to raise funds for the Anti-Cancer Society. Our Mediazone team has participated in this event as volunteers for more than a decade contributing people, time and resources every year to this great cause. We have a booth where children have a chance to interact with the newest technologies. Moreover, we create highlight videos of the event afterwards.
However, this year was a bit different. We had to provide two final videos: the general highlights of the event and a testimonial/interview video featuring the organizers and participants. Since the University of Nicosia takes part in this occasion, I had to interview the Heads of the Departments of Business, Education, the Medical School, Architecture, and the Aesthetics and Wellness programs of Intercollege. I was responsible for the production of the testimonial video and had to conduct the interviews, which was both an exciting and challenging experience.
One of the challenges we faced during this production was the lack of a soundproof location to record the interviews. This created some issues during post-production; however, with the help of the Mediazone members, this obstacle was overcome.

At that moment, it seemed that I hadn’t done a good job and had failed my team and client. Nonetheless, after the event and the delivery of the final products, we received a letter of appreciation from the organizers of the event. They expressed how thankful they were and how surprised they were by our professionalism. After receiving it, I felt genuine gratitude for my team and myself, and to say that it felt amazing to receive such kind feedback would be an understatement.
This experience showed me that no matter what you feel inside at the moment, and no matter what obstacles are in your way, it is crucial to maintain a calm and professional attitude and continue to be polite and respectful. I had the chance to improve my interpersonal communication skills, stress resistance, and creativity. Being part of such large productions taught me that you must be flexible, confident, and, once again, always have a plan B.
If it weren’t for Mediazone, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to experience so many incredible moments, discover my strengths, and evolve into a better and more professional person who is ready to step into the real industry world.
