PediHeart Cyprus 2016

Posted On February 3, 2016 By admin In Announcements /

Mediazone in association with the Communications Office has been involved with the Pediheart organization for the second year in a row, creating public service announcements for Television and Radio broadcast. We are very pleased with the feedback and reaction from last year’s campaign, and are excited about the launch of this year’s.

February 14 is the Congenital Heart Defects Awareness Day, and the University of Nicosia is proud to support such a worthy cause.

Mediazone created concept, script to execution. Ioanna Lampropoulou from Mix fm is the great voice you are hearing in both promos. Marios Tziakouris, Mediazone Design and Multimedia staff was the driving force behind the animation, starting with a PowerPoint storyboard he created a modern fresh promo that speaks to us all. Here is how he did it!

The Pediheart promo was created using mostly vector graphics that were designed in Adobe illustrator. It was inspired by platform based 2D games and comics in order to show children a cartoon feel and look.
Special detail was given to our character, that had to be animated in Adobe After Effects. I tried to give it a true motion using the well-known walk cycles from the Animator’s Survival Kit by Richard Williams, the creative mind behind the animation of the worldwide smash success Who Framed Roger Rabbit for which he won two Oscars.

After the creation of the graphics I took the character and animated it using an After Effect plugin called Duik (get it here, it’s free) and with the help of this tutorial I tried to set up a smooth walking cycle. Photoshop was also used for editing and making the jewels transparent.
