Just like me, you also may have seen posters around University advertising the new Unic Application. When I first saw it I thought it was a brilliant idea since most of us have learned and have gotten used to having everything we need on our phone. Our phones have become a part of our daily lives and we always have them on us. They are not only our phones but they have become our personal mail man, our entertainment at times of boredom, our computer, basically they’ve become a customized piece of technology that suits each and everyone’s personal need.
“The Distance Learning IT Unit, in line with IT trends and student needs, has developed the first in-house mobile application for the University. The app, is now available on Windows Store, Google Play and App Store, its aim is to simplify everything you need to know about the University of Nicosia.” Taken from Gregoris Vishnumolakala article for Unic magazine.
My curiosity grew larger about this new application so I visited the Distance Learning Department and asked about it; in return I was given the opportunity to login to the new application and check it out for myself before it was even launched! I found that it consisted of many practical and useful features that you have quick and easy access to. Student Intranet and the UNic website was right there on the ipad I was given, without having to use a computer or search from a browser on my phone . What’s even more impressive is the GPS location tool that will never leave you lost or asking for direction on campus.
What I also found:
Login: The Login function automatically brings all your Intranet information straight to the palm of your hand. Class and exam schedule, grade reports and courses available for registration.
Bus Schedule: The bus schedule is provided by OSEL – Transportation Organization of Nicosia District which includes all the routes that buses can travel to and from university and the time schedule for each route.
Maps: You won’t have any trouble finding buildings and classrooms since the Maps will guide you to any office, class or building on Campus.
Phonebook & Service Hours: Quick and easy access to contact information of any office and building located at the University.
Other features currently available are: UNic Info, Faculty (Who is Who), Calendar, Distance Learning, Erasmus and Medical School.
So if you have access to Windows Store, Google Play or App Store. I suggest you download the App today since it is now available!
