COMM-212 Editing and Compositing In Digital Media
The objective of the course is to develop further skills in editing acquired from basic level production courses.
It includes: applying concepts and techniques of video and film production, shot composition and editing workshops. The students are also introduced to the making of a commercial, a Public Service Announcement, documentaries, music videos, trailers and short films. The students will be learning how to transform their ideas into audiovisual messages effectively will also as well as have the chance to use AVID, Premiere and introduced to After Effects through this course.
This course will be replacing the old COMM-347, Digital Editing.
COMM- 302 Creative Production and Publishing
The objective of the course is to develop further skills acquired from basic level production courses.
It includes: applying concepts and techniques of video and film production, working with digital and HD equipment (video camera and editing), shot composition, editing workshops and publishing, sharing and promoting videos for the web.
The course will provide an opportunity to students to create a variety of productions, allowing them to express personal creativity. They will be introduced to the making of a commercial, a Public Service Announcement, documentaries, music videos and short dramas.
The students will be asked to write a script, shoot, edit their own projects on some of these categories and finally publish/upload them.
This course will be replacing the old COMM-235 Creative Production
COMM-342 TV Production Techniques And Directing
The objective of the course is to develop further skills acquired from Video Production and Editing and Compositing in Digital Media courses, through hands-on experience with Digital and HD equipment.
It includes: applying concepts and techniques of television and film production and directing, lectures and workshops on Field Production, on Electronic News Gathering (ENG) but also on studio production -in a fully HD multi camera environment.
The course will provide an opportunity to the students to practice on professional television equipment and produce several projects with concentration on factual TV.
By the end of this course, students should be feeling comfortable handling several pieces of television equipment and most importantly be ready to use them on more creative, demanding projects and more in general during directing.
This course will be replacing COMM-210 Production Techniques and COMM-313 Television Directing and parts of COMM-311, Electronic Journalism TV.
