The 8th Cyprus International Film festival, started on 18th and ended on 28th of October , during which 80 short and feature independent film productions were screened from 26 countries right here at the University of Nicosia.

The Cyprus International film festival continues to promote both Cypriot cinematography and Greek Cypriot directors who live abroad by giving the chance to the audience to watch movies that wouldn’t have the opportunity to be viewed in Cyprus. On the very first day of the festival, the first screening was “Dead Cat” – the first feature film  of the Cypriot film director Stefan Georgiou, followed by the “Final Payoff” of the first shown Alexandros Leontarites, as a world premiere.

The festival ended with the “Golden Aphrodite Awards” Ceremony, after the much anticipated Masterclass by the distinguished Director of Photography Olympia Mytilineou. Among those in attendance were distinguished guests, several directors and jury members who participated in the festival , Olympia Mytilineou , Vivek Singkania , Christos Georgiou , Michael Georgiades , Chris Economides , Peter Galides, Nikos Peristianis , the Ambassador of Serbia to Cyprus and many guests.
